Course Materials
San Jacinto College uses a variety of course materials to ensure students have quality resources to support learning.
Traditional Textbook: Hardcopy or E-books selected for specific course sections.
Open Books No Cost: There are no course material costs associated with these course sections. These course sections use only online, free, and open educational resources (OER).
Open Books Low Cost: The total cost of course materials for these sections will not exceed $50 at the College bookstore.
Open Books Plus: These course sections use an inclusive access model where the costs of digital learning materials are included as an additional course charge on a student’s tuition statement. Students are provided the ability to opt-out of Open Books Plus when the course begins if they choose to purchase elsewhere.
Non-textbook Course Materials and Supplies: Some classes may require students to purchase additional lab supplies or materials for the class. These may include such items as personal protective equipment, consumable supplies, tools, or other items that will be used during the course.
