Students may review testing dates and times here or contact the nearest Testing Center.

Texas Success Initiative Assessment 2.0

San Jacinto College uses the Texas Success Initiative Assessment 2.0 (TSIA2) to determine college readiness levels in mathematics, reading, and writing for non-exempt students. The test scores will determine if students are ready for college-level courses or need preparatory courses. Students test at the campus of their choice and will usually finish in three to four hours. Students also need to complete the Pre-Assessment Activity (PAA) before testing. Students need to complete this exam before attending New Student Orientation (NSO) and registering for courses.

As of January 11th, 2021, per College Board updates, students may no longer take the original TSIA; however, students who have completed the TSIA may continue to submit their scores to San Jacinto College for placement purposes. TSIA scores will remain valid for up to 5 years from test date.

Texas Certificate of High School Equivalency (TxCHSE)

San Jacinto College currently administers the GED and HiSET for the TxCHSE. Students may visit the TEA TxCHSE website for more information.

Credit by Examination

Students must submit an official copy of Advanced Placement (AP), College Level Examination Program (CLEP), and International Baccalaureate (IB) results to Records Management for processing. A student must earn at least three credit hours of coursework at San Jacinto College before credit will be awarded for these examination results.
