Campus Testing Centers
Campus Testing Centers offer the following tests: the Accuplacer Texas Success Initiative Assessment 2.0 (TSIA2); the Accuplacer English as a Second Language (ESL); the College Level Examination Program (CLEP); the General Educational Development (GED); as well as make-up and accessibility academic exams. Students may review testing dates and times here or contact the nearest Testing Center.
Texas Success Initiative Assessment 2.0
San Jacinto College uses the Texas Success Initiative Assessment 2.0 (TSIA2) to determine college readiness levels in mathematics, reading, and writing for non-exempt students. The test scores will determine if students are ready for college-level courses or need preparatory courses. Students test at the campus of their choice and will usually finish in three to four hours. Students also need to complete the Pre-Assessment Activity (PAA) before testing. Students need to complete this exam before registering for most courses.
As of January 11, 2021, students may no longer take the original TSIA; however, students who have completed the TSIA may continue to submit their scores to San Jacinto College for placement purposes. TSIA and TSIA2 scores will remain valid for up to five years from the test date.
Texas Certificate of High School Equivalency (TxCHSE)
San Jacinto College currently administers the GED for the TxCHSE. Students may visit the TEA TxCHSE website for more information.
Credit by Examination
Students must submit an official copy of Advanced Placement (AP), College Level Examination Program (CLEP), and International Baccalaureate (IB) results to Records Management for processing. A student must earn at least one credit hour of coursework at San Jacinto College before credit will be awarded for these examination results. Once documents are received, the student must meet with a program advisor to request the credit by examination be added to their record.
