San Jacinto College’s Entrepreneurial and Small Business Management program prepares students with the skills to start, manage, and grow a business. The curriculum combines entrepreneurial theory with hands-on practice, emphasizing business planning, market research, leadership, and problem-solving. Students also gain real-world experience through collaboration with the San Jacinto College Center for Entrepreneurship.

This learning pathway — a series of related and “stacked” certificates and degrees — includes the following awards. You can start at any point on the path and earn certificates on your way to completing the degree.
- Entrepreneurial and Small Business Management, Certificate of Technology (1 year)
- Entrepreneurial and Small Business Management, Level 2 Certificate (1.5 years)
- Entrepreneurial and Small Business Management, Associate of Applied Science (2 years)
Learning Outcomes and Career Skills
A student completing the last award in the pathway will be able to:
- Establish a marketing plan to promote their product or service effectively.
- Evaluate leadership, teamwork, motivation, and supervision skills throughout the business organization.
- Assess and develop the elements of organizational functions to create a business plan.
- Distinguish between various business opportunities (franchise, starting a new business, buying an existing business, running an internet-based business, etc.) and explain the challenges and benefits of each.
- Evaluate key accounting elements (general ledger, income statement, balance sheet, tax forms, payroll, and statement of cash flows).
- Apply effective negotiation and conflict resolution strategies.
